Description: The VIP-602 "MegaSwitch"™ Multi-Head USB-PS/2 Hybrid KVM switch allows one PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mouse, and three monitors to control any combination of two USB or PS/2, multi-head / multi video configured PCs or Servers. It is the ideal solution for multi-head video KVM switch applications requiring access to two USB and / or PS/2 computers, without the clutter and expense of additional keyboards, mice, and monitors. The VIP-602 device inputs support all popular PS/2 keyboards and PS/2 mice and video resolution up to 1600 by 1200 at 75Hz per monitor. The VIP-602 PC connections support either PS/2 keyboard and mouse, or USB 2.0. The unique architecture of the MegaSwitch provides a dedicated microprocessor for each PC. This feature makes it possible to "hot-plug" keyboards and mice, at any time, and power the connected PCs up and down, in any order. At the heart of the MegaSwitch is Vetra's advanced keyboard and mouse emulation technology which provides error free boot up and mouse driver loading for each connected PC, and allows the MegaSwitch to operate transparently with all PCs, PC operating systems, and applications. The VIP-602 2 port Multi-Head USB - PS/2 Hybrid KVM switch comes in a two standard configurations, is compact in design, easy to install and operate, and is ideally suited for desktop use, however, for applications requiring rack mounting, an optional 2U height rack mount tray is available (see Accessories ). The VIP-602 2 port Multi-Head USB - PS/2 KVM Switch is also available as a Dual-Head KVM Switch (models for 2 video monitors per PC). For more information on this product or our complete line of KVM solutions, please contact us at sales@vetra.com OPERATION: Both VIP-602 2 port USB - PS/2 Dual-Head KVM switch models can select the active PC via a keyboard "hot-key" sequence ( [scroll lock] + [1] for PC1, or [scroll lock] + [2] for PC2 ) or by a push button(s) located on the front panel of the KVM Switch. The Direct Entry model (as indicated by -DE in the model number) has an individual push button switch for each PC channel. The non-DE model has a single push button switch (NEXT PC) which toggles between the two connected PCs. On both models, when a PC channel is selected, an LED on the front panel illuminates to indicate the selected PC while additional front panel LED's indicate which PC channels are powered. Upon selection, the intelligence in the MegaSwitch correctly sets the keyboard's status indicators, CAPS, SCROLL, and NUM Lock, as these settings may be different for each PC. The keyboard and/or mouse may be disconnected and re-connected (hot-plugged), or exchanged at any time without having to power down the connected PC's. This feature is useful if a connected device fails during a critical application.

Connections: KVM Switch to PC ports: Standard 6 pin mini DIN male-male cables, or standard USB A-B type cables are used to connect the Multi-Head USB - PS/2 KVM Switch to the keyboard and mouse ports of the PCs and standard HDD15 male-female video cables are used to connect to the video ports of PCs. Using standard cables eliminates the need to replace an entire multi-port cable if one connection is damaged or fails, thereby reducing the overall cost of maintainence. Devices to KVM Switch: The captive cables that are part of the keyboard, mouse, and monitors, are used to connect these devices to the Multi-Head USB - PS/2 KVM Switch. Short extension cables may be used to extend the distance between the connected devices and the Multi-Head USB - PS/2 KVM Switch. You may use your cables, or ours (see Accessories ). Powering the KVM Switch: All models of the VIP-602 Dual-Head USB - PS/2 KVM Switch are powered by an external power supply VIP-210 (see Accessories ), which is supplied with the unit. In the event that you wish to power the switch from your own supply, please note that your supply should provide regulated +5VDC @ 1A minimum via a PL06 type plug with the center pin +V, and outer barrel ground.
