Description: The VIP-808-V-TS "MegaTouch"™ Touch Screen Monitor Switch allows one serial touch screen monitor to control up to 8 PCs. It is the ideal solution for touch technology switching applications where recovering valuable desk / rack space and reducing the clutter and expense of redundant monitors is desired. The VIP-808-V-TS utilizes Vetra's unique electronic switching circuitry which supports full touch technology functionality while providing crisp, clear video resolutions of up to 1600 by 1200 at 75Hz. Inexpensive touch screen switches may use mechanical switches to switch video signals and touch screen data, which over time and repeated usage can result in signal degradation or signal loss due to mechanical fatique or oxidation of contacts. The VIP-808-V-TS Touch Screen Monitor Switch is a fully integrated electronic switch and can be counted on to provide years of dependable, uninterrupted service. The VIP-808-V-TS Touch Screen Monitor Switch comes in two standard configurations, is compact in design, easy to install and operate. For applications requiring rack mounting, an optional 2U height rack mount tray is available (see Accessories ). The VIP-808-V-TS is also available as a Dual-Head Touch Screen Monitor Switch (2 touch screens per PC) on a custom order basis. The VIP-808-V-TS-DE (Direct Entry model) has individual push button switches on the front panel for each selectable PC channel. Depressing a push button switches the connected touch screen monitor to the corresponding PC. The VIP-808-V-TS has a single push button (NEXT PC) which provides manual sequential switching through all selectable PC channels. Each time the "NEXT PC" button is depressed it switches the connected touch screen monitor to the next PC channel in the cycle. Both models can be switched, via RS-232 serial commands, using the remote control connector (DB9 male) located on the back panel of the unit (see connections and specifications below). In all cases and on both models, when the unit is powered, the PWR ON indicator on the front panel illuminates to indicate the unit is powered. When a PC channel is selected, a MONITOR STATUS LED on the front panel illuminates to indicate the currently selected PC.

Connections: PC's to MegaTouch - Standard HDD15 Male-female video cables are used to connect to the video ports of the PC's. Standard DB9 Male-female cables are used to connect to the serial ports (for touch screen data) of the PC's. You may use your cables, or ours (see Accessories ). Touch Monitor to MegaTouch - The captive cables that are part of, or supplied with, the touch screen monitor are used to connect it to the the Touch Screen Video Switch. Extension cables are also available for short run extensions (see Accessories ). Extending Capabilities of the MegaTouch: Remote Control- The Remote Control (RS-232 control) connector is a DB9 male with serial data transmitted to pin-2 (pin-5 is gnd) @ 9600 baud. Data format is: one start bit, eight data bits (LSB first), one stop bit, no parity. Selection codes are provided on the instructions that come with the unit. Extended Distance and Multiple Stations- The controlling touch monitor may be located remotely from the MegaTouch by using standard coax video extension cables and DB9 extension cables. These can be purchased from Vetra (see Accessories ). Multiple touch monitor stations may be connected to the MegaTouch by using one of VETRA's Touch Screen Splitters . Specifications: Dimensions for both models of the VIP-808-V-TS Touch Screen Video Switch are 3.135 in H x 14.625 in W x 6.20 in D (7.96 cm x 37.15 cm x 15.75 cm). The housing is fabricated from .062 in thick aluminium, finished with low gloss, scratch resistant black paint and silk-screened with epoxy inks for lasting durability. The VIP-808-V-TS is powered by an external power supply which is supplied with the unit. FC and CE marked. Shipping weight is less than 4 lbs per unit.
