The VIP-804-V2 "MegaView"™ Dual-Head Video Monitor Switch allows two monitors to be switched between up to four dual-head video configured PCs. It is the ideal solution for dual monitor switching applications where recovering valuable desk / rack space and reducing the clutter and expense of redundant monitors is desired. The VIP-804-V2 utilizes Vetra's unique electronic switching circuitry which supports crisp, clear video resolutions of up to 1600 by 1200 at 75Hz for each connected monitor. Inexpensive video switches may use mechanical switches or relays to switch video signals, which over time and repeated usage can result in signal degradation or signal loss due to mechanical fatique or oxidation of contacts. The VIP-804-V Dual-Head Video Monitor Switch is a fully integrated electronic switch and can be counted on to provide years of dependable, uninterrupted service.

The VIP-804-V2 Dual-Head Video Monitor Switch comes in two standard configurations, is compact in design, easy to install and operate, and is ideally suited for desktop use, however, for applications requiring rack mounting, an optional 2U height rack mount tray is available (see Accessories ). The VIP-804-V2 Dual-Head Video Monitor Switch is also available in Multi-Head and Quad-Head configurations (models for 3 or 4 video outputs per PC).

OPERATION:

The active PC is selected by either front panel switches or remotely via RS-232 serial commands.

The VIP-804-V2-DE (Direct Entry model) has individual push button switches on the front panel for each selectable PC channel. Depressing a push button switches the connected monitor to the corresponding PC. The VIP-804-V2 has a single push button (NEXT PC) which provides manual sequential switching through all selectable PC channels. Each time the "NEXT PC" button is depressed it switches the connected monitor to the next PC channel in the cycle. Both models can be switched, via RS-232 serial commands, using the remote control connector (DB9 male) located on the back panel of the unit (see connections and specifications below).

In all cases and on both models, when the unit is powered, the PWR ON indicator on the front panel illuminates to indicate the unit is powered. When a PC channel is selected, a MONITOR STATUS LED on the front panel illuminates to indicate the currently selected PC.

Connections:

Standard male-female VGA extension cables are used to connect the MegaView to the video ports of the PC's. You may use your cables, or purchase them directly from Vetra Systems (see Accessories ). The captive cable that is part of, or provided with, the monitor is used to connect the monitor to the MegaView. The Remote Control (RS-232 control) connector is a DB9 male with serial data transmitted to pin-2 (pin-5 is gnd) @ 9600 baud. Data format is: one start bit, eight data bits (LSB first), one stop bit, no parity. Selection codes are: Hex 31 = PC#1, Hex 32 = PC#2, Hex 33 = PC#3, Hex 34 = PC#4.

Dimensions for the VIP-804-V2, VIP-804-V2-DE, VIP-804-V3, and VIP-804-V3-DE are 3.38 in H x 8.08 in W x 6.32 in D (8.59 cm x 20.52 cm x 16.05 cm). Dimensions for the VIP-804-V4, VIP-804-V4-DE are 4.04 in (10.26 cm) H x 8.08 in W x 6.32 in D (6.68 cm x 20.52 cm x 16.05 cm). The housings are molded of black GE Cycolac-T, a high impact ABS material, and are internally shielded with an acrylic base nickel coating for RFI attenuation. Front and rear panels are fabricated from .062 in thick aluminium and finished with low gloss paint. All models are powered via +5VDC external power supply (supplied with the unit). FCC and CE marked. Shipping weight is less than 3 lbs per unit.
