The USB-802 "MegaSwitch"™ 2 Port Dual-Head USB KVM Switch w/audio and USB Hub-Support allows one USB keyboard, USB mouse, two monitors, and 1 microphone w/ stereo speakers to control two dual head / dual video USB PCs with audio. It is the ideal solution for dual monitor and audio USB KVM switch applications requiring access to two USB computers, without the clutter and expense of additional keyboards, mice, monitors, and audio components. The USB-802 2 Port Dual-Head USB KVM Switch with USB Hub-Support, supports all popular USB keyboards, USB mice, PC audio components, and video resolution up to 1600 by 1200 at 75Hz per monitor. In addition, the USB-802 2 Port Dual-Head USB KVM Switch with USB Hub-Support, provides one level of Hub-Support and also works with a wide range of USB 1.1 & 2.0 low-speed and full-speed HID devices.

At the heart of the USB-802 2 Port Dual-Head USB KVM Switch is Vetra's advanced, patented technology, which provides and supports true USB functionality through the switch. Connected keyboards, mice and/or devices enumerate and operate correctly, even through a hub. Devices may be "hot-plugged" at any time, and the connected PCs may be powered up and down in any order. The unique architecture of all USB-802 2 Port USB KVM Switch models ensures error free boot up and device driver loading for each connected PC, and allows the MegaSwitch to operate transparently with all PCs and MAC's, PC operating systems, and applications.

The USB-802 2 Port Dual-Head USB KVM Switch with USB Hub-Support comes in a variety of standard configurations, is compact in design, easy to install and operate, and is ideally suited for desktop use, however, for applications requiring rack mounting, an optional 2U height rack mount tray is available (see Accessories ). The USB-802 2 Port Dual-Head USB KVM Switch is also available as a Multi-Head USB KVM Switch (for 3 video monitors per PC).

OPERATION:

All USB-802 "MegaSwitch" 2 Port Dual-Head USB KVM Switch models can select the active PC via a keyboard "hot-key" sequence ( [scroll lock] + [1] for PC1, or [scroll lock] + [2] for PC2, or by a push button(s) located on the front panel of the KVM Switch. Only "powered" PCs may be selected.

Direct Entry models (as indicated by -DE in the model number) have 2 individual push button switches for selecting the active PC channel as well as an "auto-scan" mode ([scroll lock] +"A"). Auto-scan sequentially switches through each connected and powered PC, pausing for 5 seconds at each PC before automatically switching to the next PC. The selection of any powered PC channel terminates the auto-scan mode. Non-DE models have a single push button (NEXT PC) which toggles between the two selectable PC channels.

In all cases on either model, when a PC channel is selected, an LED on the front panel illuminates to indicate the selected PC while additional front panel LED's indicate which PC channels are powered. Upon selection, the intelligence in the MegaSwitch correctly sets the keyboard's status indicators, CAPS, SCROLL, and NUM Lock, as these settings may be different for each PC. The keyboard and/or mouse may be disconnected and re-connected (hot-plugged), or exchanged at any time without having to power down the connected PC's. This feature is useful if a connected device fails during a critical application.

Connections:

Standard USB type A-B cables are used to connect the MegaSwitch to the USB ports of the PCs. Standard HDD15 Male-female video cables are used to connect to the video ports of PCs. Standard PC type audio cables are used to connect to the audio ports of PCs. Using standard cables eliminates the need to replace an entire multi-port cable if one connection is damaged or fails, thereby reducing the overall cost of maintainence. You may use your cables, or ours (see Accessories ). The captive cables that are part of the keyboard, mouse, and monitor are used to connect these devices to the MegaSwitch.

Specifications:

Dimensions for all models of the USB-802 2 Port Dual-Head USB KVM Switch w/audio and USB Hub-Support are 3.38 in H x 6.06 in W x 6.32 in D (8.59 cm x 15.39 cm x 16.05 cm). The housing is molded of black GE Cycolac-T, a high impact ABS material, and is internally shielded with an acrylic base nickel coating for RFI attenuation. Front and rear panels are fabricated from .062 in thick aluminium and finished with low gloss paint. Power to the MegaSwitch is supplied by a wall mount power supply (VIP-210) provided with the unit. FCC and CE marked. Shipping weight is less than 3 lbs per unit.
