Description: The VIP-808-TS "MegaTouch"™ Touch Screen KVM Switch allows one keyboard, mouse and touch screen video monitor to control from 8 to as many as 64 PCs or Servers. It is the ideal solution for touch technology applications requiring access to a large number of computers, without the clutter and expense of additional keyboards, mice and touch screen monitors. The VIP-808-TS supports all popular keyboards and mice, including Microsoft IntelliMouse™ and Logitech wheel mice, as well as touch screen monitors from 3M and ELO in video resolutions up to 1600 by 1200 at 75Hz. The unique architecture of the MegaTouch provides a dedicated microprocessor for each PC. This feature makes it possible to "hot-plug" keyboards and mice, at any time, and power the connected PCs up and down, in any order. At the heart of the MegaTouch is Vetra's advanced keyboard and mouse emulation technology which provides error free boot up and mouse driver loading for each connected PC, and allows the MegaTouch to operate transparently with all IBM compatible PCs, PC operating systems, and applications. All VIP-808-TS Touch Screen KVM Switch models are powered by the connected PCs, so no external power supply is required. Each MegaTouch can control up to eight PCs, and a maximum of eight units can be cascaded together to access a total of 64 PCs. Expansion is accomplished by assigning a unique sequential "bank" number to each MegaTouch in the chain via the bank select switch located on the front panel of the KVM switch. A "bank" consists of a MegaTouch and its connected PCs. Connections between banks are made using inexpensive "off the shelf" RJ45, DB9 and video cables connected to the rear of the units. The VIP-808-TS Touch Screen KVM Switch comes in a two standard configurations, is compact in design, and is easy to install and operate. For applications requiring rack mounting, an optional 2U height rack mount tray is available (see Accessories ). The VIP-804-TS is also available as a Touch Screen Monitor Switch (touch screen monitor only, no keyboard or mouse) for applications where a keyboard and / or mouse is not required. For more information on this product or our complete line of KVM solutions, please contact us at sales@vetra.com OPERATION: Both VIP-808-TS "MegaTouch" Touch Screen KVM Switch models can select the active PC via a keyboard "hot-key" sequence ( [scroll lock] + [1] for PC1, or [scroll lock] + [3] for PC3, etc ) or by a push button(s) located on the front panel of the Touch Screen KVM Switch. The Direct Entry model (as indicated by -DE in the model number) has an individual push button switch for each selectable PC channel as well as an "auto-scan" mode ([scroll lock] +"A"). Auto-scan sequentially switches through each connected and powered PC, pausing for 5 seconds at each PC before automatically switching to the next PC. The selection of any powered PC channel terminates the auto-scan mode. The Direct Entry model does not allow selection of "dead" PC channels (unpowered PC or not connected). The non-DE model has a single push button (NEXT PC) which provides manual sequential switching through all PC channels. Each time the "NEXT PC" button is depressed it switches to the next PC channel in the cycle. The non-DE model allows the selection of all PC channels regardless of power status. On both models, when a PC channel is selected, an LED on the front panel illuminates to indicate the selected PC while additional front panel LED's indicate which PCs are powered. Upon channel selection, the intelligence in the MegaTouch correctly sets the keyboard's status indicators, CAPS, SCROLL, and NUM Lock, as these settings may be different for each PC. The keyboard and/or mouse may be disconnected and re-connected (hot-plugged), or exchanged at any time without having to power down the connected PC's. This feature is useful if a connected device fails during a critical application.

Connections: PC's to MegaTouch - Standard male-male 6 pin mini-DIN extension cables are used to connect the MegaTouch to the keyboard and mouse ports of the PC's. Standard HDD15 Male-female video cables are used to connect to the video ports of the PC's. Standard DB9 Male-female cables are used to connect to the serial ports (for touch screen data) of the PC's.Using standard cables eliminates the need to replace an entire multi-port cable if one connection is damaged or fails, thereby reducing the overall cost of maintainence. You may use your cables, or ours (see Accessories ). Keyboard, Mouse, and Touch Monitor to MegaTouch - The captive cables that are part of, or supplies with, the keyboard, mouse, and touch screen monitor are used to connect these devices the the Touch Screen KVM switch. Extension cables are also available for short run extensions (see Accessories ). Expansion - When making "bank to bank" connections, the keyboard, mouse, and control data are transmitted using standard RJ45 cables, while video signals and touch screen data are transmitted using standard VGA and DB9 extension cables. We recommend the use of mini-coax type video cables to prevent induced noise and signal degradation. These can be purchased from Vetra (see Accessories ). Extending Capabilities of the MegaTouch: Remote Control- The MegaTouch may be controlled from a distance. For RS-232 control, VETRA's VIP-335 "SmartPipe" Converter and keyboard wedge allows ASCII RS-232 control of selected PC. For contact closure control, a connector can be made available on a special order basis. Extended Distance and Multiple Stations- The controlling keyboard, mouse and touch monitor may be located remotely from the MegaTouch by using VETRA's VIP-380 keyboard/mouse extender. Multiple keyboard, mouse and touch monitor stations may be connected to the MegaTouch by using one of VETRA's Multiplexers or splitters.
